Coco Rocha To Debut Line at Grammy's

Just last fall model Coco Rocha was asking the readers of her blog - Oh So Coco - for moniker suggestions for her not-yet-launched clothing line. Well, fast forward to today and the line is ready to make its debut. "Yes, I've decided to wear my very first creation from my new line at the Grammys!!!" Rocha wrote on her blog today. "My team and I have been hard at work getting the dress together these last few weeks. Just this morning we had another fitting and I have to tell you, it has been so wonderful to see the picture in my head find its way into reality."

As for the line's name, no word yet: "In case you're wondering, we do have a name for the line but we are still working out the standard legal branding issues before announcing that," adds Rocha. The mannequin will be working as a correspondent for ET Canada at the upcoming Grammy awards show (read: tons of exposure of Rocha's first-ever fashion design), meaning this is by far the smartest marketing move we've seen in a while. Looks like in addition to being a stellar model and a designer, Rocha has quite the knack for pr as well.

COPYCATS: Forever 21 is notoriously unrelenting when it comes to knocking-off other designers' creations. (The penchant has spawned quite a few lawsuits, with Trovata's being perhaps the most publicized.) Well, the cheap chain retailer is at it again, says Coco Perez. This time the victim: Banksy, the graphic graffito out of Britain whose images have been swooped up by the likes of Brangelina.

OPENINGS: Bloomingdale's is entering the Outlet business. Sales at outlets are relatively strong across the board, says WWD. In joining the outlet game, Bloomingdale's would join the ranks of nearly every other luxury department store: Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom (who is opening its premiere outlet, Nordstrom Rack in NYC's Union Square, soon) included. Specific locations for Bloomingdale's have yet to be announced.
RED CARPET REDUX: Christian Lacroix may have declared bankruptcy last year and still be searching for a bailout but that didn't keep Lacroix from last night's Golden Globes awards. Diane Kruger wore a pink couture creation from Lacroix's Spring 2009 collection. Meanwhile, after an escort stepped on and subsequently ripped her SS10 Valentino dress, Chloƫ Sevigny slipped on FW09 couture Lacroix for her rounds at the various Globes after-parties (her newly earned Golden Globe in hand).

Launches: David Barton Gym Gets Reem Exclusive

Around the streets of NYC, David Barton Gym (home of the slogan "Look Better Naked") is synonymous with solacious, bordering on inappropriate ads and a 40,000 square-foot Astor Place workout center it calls a "four-story fitness fantasy." Now, not only does David Barton want to get your body into shape; he wants to clothe it too. "This Friday, DavidBartonGym will celebrate the launch of Reem, a unisex collection of clothing and accessories designed by Iraqi-born UK designer Reem Alasadi, exclusively at DavidBartonGym’s new in-house boutique, The Shop," says FashionIndie.

Befitting the gym's Victorian-inspired interior, apparently Reem, which David Barton goes so far as to call "wearable art," also sources its inspiration from "Victoriana." In other words, it won't translate to the tredmill, but if the animal print leggings and black lipstick pictured here are any indication, the clothes will fit right in over on East Village hipster Mecca: neighboring St. Mark's Place.
FIRST LOOK: Opening Ceremony's latest footwear collection takes its inspiration from an ancient festival celebrated halfway around the globe. The line of tie-dye and brightly colored shoes - which includes clog styles, as well as peep-toe lace-ups and bow heels - was inspired by India's Holi festival, which is held yearly in the springtime. "People throw colored powder and water at each other and turn cities and citizens into technicolor dreamscapes," Opening Ceremony says on its blog.
